I am a clinical psychologist (PhD) who specializes in therapy for couples, athletes, and the geriatric population. I enjoy working with a broad range of clients, including those who are struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, and relationship difficulties. I pull from a number of techniques, including Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), though I emphasize the individual’s innate strength and capacity to heal and grow within themselves and in their relationships with loved ones.
Assessment is also a passion of mine. I provide psychological and psychoeducational evaluations for clients over the age of 6, as well as screenings for neuropsychological issues (dementia, head injury, etc.). My approach to assessment is comprehensive and I strive to have my evaluations portray an individual’s strengths, weaknesses, cognitive functioning, personality, etc., in a unified and encompassing manner.
I enjoy anything outdoors (hiking, camping, yardwork, etc.), grilling out, watching sports, and raising three young children. I work out of the Crozet office, offer teletherapy, and can be reached at sflannery@virginiafamilytherapy.com.
