Therapy does not have to be hard or scary. Working with children, adolescents, families, and LGBT individuals of all ages and stages, I take a balanced approach combining support, warmth, empathy and humor (when appropriate). Specializing in trauma treatment, I have the honor of helping young people and adults find solutions, feel better and find their way through life’s challenges big and small.
I earned my M.S.W. in Clinical Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and my B.A. in Psychology from Randolph-Macon Women’s College where I was a two-sport varsity athlete (basketball and tennis). I have worked in a variety of settings including schools, crisis services, as well as inpatient and outpatient mental health. During my more than 25 years in private practice I have also taught Psychology at James Madison University and served as an expert witness for the state, and federal court system.
Ask me about my one season playing international men’s basketball.
