Hi. I specialize in working with children, teens, parents, and families. I work specifically with families who are struggling with stress, anxiety, feelings of depression, difficult transitions, or ADHD. Additionally, I work with parents of/and children who are having emotional and academic difficulties in the school setting. I strive to help my clients feel better and live their lives more fully as themselves, and utilize cognitive-behavioral techniques (CBT), mindfulness, and a strengths-based and goal-oriented approach. I am dedicated to ensuring that the counseling room is a safe space by providing genuine openness and unconditional positive regard for my clients.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and earned my Masters in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. I have worked with children and families in Virginia for over 20 years, most recently in Albemarle County and Nelson Public Schools. I also have experience working in private schools across our area.
I enjoy being outside, spending time with my family (including two pre-teens), and gardening. I work out of the Charlottesville-East Pantops office and offer Teletherapy to families throughout Virginia. You can contact me directly at nbowles@virginiafamilytherapy.com
