Markita Jackson, MA, Qualified Mental Health Professional
Hi. I specialize in mentoring women and teens so that they are more able to reach their personal and professional goals. For adolescents and older, I offer active and compassionate listening, openness, and a solution-focused approach based on the needs of each individual. For families, I offer coaching on parent-child interactions in order to promote a healthy relationship and behaviors from a young age. I have significant experience in schools, community organizations, and through my Masters in Human Service Counseling.
As an African-American woman, I understand how difficult it is to live in Central Virginia and overcome the barriers that are placed around us. Emotionally, I understand that what frequently gets in our way is unresolved trauma. Additionally, women and girls of color are frequently misunderstood, stereotyped, and overlooked. I strive to provide the space and support for Black females to continue pressing forward while coping with life around us. I love this work and feel honored to be able to offer a safe, trusting, and relatable environment for my clients.
I am a mother of three and have lived in Virginia for the last ten years. I provide face-to-face services at the Charlotteville-East location and offer mentoring via Zoom across the state of Virginia. I am currently not a member of the Virginia Family Therapy team but am working with them to develop my own business, Markita Jackson, LLC. You can reach me directly at markitajackson9@gmail.com.
