Hello! I specialize in adolescents, college students, and young adults struggling with eating disorders, anxiety, mood disorders, OCD, and sleep disturbance. My approach to therapy is strengths-based and uses a blend of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I help my clients engage with the present moment through mindfulness and make daily choices guided by their personal values in order to live full, happy, and healthy lives.
I have significant experience working with young people in the LGBTQIA+ community and support clients with concerns related to gender identity, relational issues, trauma, and discrimination using an intersectional approach.
I am originally from California and earned my BA in Human Development from University of California, San Diego. I completed my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. Before I became a counselor, I worked in elementary and middle school education in Washington, DC.
I am located in the Falls Church office and am available for in-person, walk and talk, and teletherapy sessions. I am a Resident in Counseling supervised by Dayna Kumar, LPC. You can contact me at kmiller@virginiafamilytherapy.com.
