Hi! I specialize in working with children, teens, and adults with histories of trauma as well as the LGBTQ+ community. My goal is to help you feel stronger and better able to manage your feelings through improving your coping skills. I believe in a holistic approach to wellness and will work with you to integrate healthy and approachable activities into your lifestyle, such as movement and mindfulness. This doesn’t always have to feel like hard work and I know relationships make it easier. In fact, if we meet in person, I will likely ask you if you want to walk and talk!
I am in my final year of a Masters in Social Work program at Virginia Commonwealth University. Upon graduation I will obtain my License in Counseling and Social Work and also an additional certificate in trauma counseling. I am planning on staying on at Virginia Family Therapy once I graduate, so I will be able to stay with my clients for the long-term. I also work with the Young Women Athletes program.
I live in Crozet with my teenage son and almost-teenage daughter. I love to be outside, exercise, and just enjoy this amazing area we call home. I went to UVA as an undergrad and am passionate about the Hoos.
As a student, my clinical work is supervised by Dr. Mike at VCU and I participate in all of the learning opportunities at Virginia Family Therapy. I see clients at the rate of their co-pay, provide teletherapy, and my home base is the Fontana office. You can contact me directly at aoelrich@virginiafamilytherapy.com.
